INTERIOR STYLING: FURNITURE, ARTWORK, & SOFT FURNISHING SELECTIONS

Glen Iris Californian bungalow: a modern revival

Interior styling focused on timeless elegance and artistry

Project Overview

Nestled in Glen Iris, Victoria, this stunning 1927 Californian bungalow underwent a modern transformation that beautifully balances its heritage charm with contemporary style. My role focused solely on interior styling, where I curated furniture, artwork, and soft furnishings throughout the home.

A standout feature of the living area is the original piece by Jessie Rigby, custom-made for this project, marking her largest commission at the time. The piece harmoniously integrates the color palette, echoing the hues of the soft furnishings.

Expanding the Vision

Years later, I returned to design the kids’ and guest bedrooms. With my client’s passion for art, we incorporated a commissioned work by Chalie McCrae, featuring calming greens and rust tones in her signature brush stroke pattern. The oak timber elements tie the space together, enhancing the overall aesthetic.

The kids’ bedrooms became a playful canvas. We chose bunk beds adorned with patterned linens in vibrant blues and whites. The Mark Tuckey egg stool, painted navy, adds a sustainable touch as a versatile bedside option. An oversized pinboard allows for the dynamic display of children’s artwork, making the space feel personal and engaging.
